About Me
Hi! My name is Dena Berri, and I am currently a freshman at Wayne State University. I am a part of the Irvin D. Reid Honors College as well as the HealthPro Start Program offered here at the university. The HealthPro Start Program is a very selective program in which only 12 people were admitted. It grants me a guaranteed spot in the graduate school college of my choosing of the health science fields here at Wayne State. I am currently fulfilling my pre-pharmacy requirements, and I expect to start graduate school at Wayne State University's Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in 2017 with the aspiration of becoming a pharmacist. After my first year of pharmacy school, I will expect to receive a Bachelors in Health Sciences, while continuing my graduate school studies. Hopefully, if all goes as planned, I will graduate with my PharmD three years later.
Attending Wayne State University has allowed me to stay close to home. I have lived in Dearborn Heights since my childhood. I have an extensive extended family, and fortunately they all live in the area. In total I have 14 aunts and uncles and over 50 cousins, along with many other close family friends. I am extremely family oriented and enjoy spending as much time as possible with them.
As a family, we travel together often and have many huge family gatherings. We have travelled to California, Florida, Washington D.C., Ohio, Virginia, and Canada multiple times. One day in the future, I hope to have the opportunity to travel across the world.

Hobbies and Interests

One of my biggest passions is art. I am very creative and love drawing, painting, and playing around with special effects (SFX) makeup and nail polish. One of my greatest talents is transforming myself into different characters. During my senior year of high school I was voted by the students of the school as the 2013 Miss Spirit, for my elaborate spirit week costumes. Art allows me to express my creativity and just have fun.
Also, reading has always been an interest of mine. While my siblings would be watching TV or playing video games, I would would be indulged in a good book. I love getting lost in a story and connecting with the characters. Throughout high school, I was actively involved in various community service organizations including the National Honor Society, S.A.D.D. (Students Against Destructive Decisions), and buildOn. Additionally, I played tennis all four years of my high school career, and I still continue to play. I taught my sister how to play, so we play together often. |
